I have 'False Memory' by Dean Koontz on my ipod and 're-read' it while backpacking around Asia last year. I really enjoyed it but found the reader's voice a bit too relaxing and I kept dozing off and thus losing my place! I took to setting the timer so that if, and when, I did fall asleep, I wouldn't have to rewind too far. I reckon it's a great plan especially for a bit of entertainment while relaxing.
I saw 'The five people you meet in Heaven' lying around the house and was thinking about uploading that for my impending trip... has anyone read that? is it any good?

Jkeyes i listen to them quite a lot in the car - sometimes i just get fed up with the radio. I have a few to "read" - The Uncommon Reader by Alan Bennett, a Garrison Keilor anthology and Barack Obama's autobiography.

Bill Bryson's autobiography is a lovely listen. It's not literature or high brow but he has a lovely gentle voice and his stories are very evocative.

I must give audiobooks another chance. A few of my friends swear by them but I've never gotten them. I think I just need to stick one on my MP3 player and go for a walk.

I think reviews of them would be good by the way.

Hi GingerNut, yes I know a few commuters who use audio books and love them for passing away long journeys with ease! It's a great idea.

just wondering if people think it would be a good idea to include reviews/suggestions/recommendations about audio books. A lot of us spend a lot of our day in the car - on long journeys i really enjoy listening to books on CD (i would never had read the Hitch-hikers guide to the galaxy but really enjoyed listening to it) so having other opinions would be great.
