She struck me as someone who just wanted what she had right at that moment and resisted any sort of change - she didn't want to go to america in the first place, but eventually was happy when she got there - then didn't want to return to ireland but circumstances forced her - then once in ireland didn't want to return to america again! I did'nt find the characters at all realistic or the ending convincing.
