If I love a book or a short-story, I'll happily pick it back up maybe every 16 or 20 months and re-read either the whole thing or favourite parts.

I haven't re-read for a long time as there is always something new to read! Brideshead Revisited is often revisited (sorry!)- I'm just watching the DVD of the series at the moment so will have to pick it up again soon. I've re-read the first part of 'A Suitable Boy' half a dozen times because I have never reached the end. It's a great book but just too long. I will definately be going back to The Secret Scripture as well. Oh, and I am also re-reading the Magic of the Faraway Tree at the moment (obsessed 6 year old!)

If I'm feeling a bit under the weather I re-read 'The Bridges of Madison County' it is such a beautiful love story, does your heart good!
I have my few also that I re read if I need a pep up every once in a while main one being The Happy Prince by Oscar Wilde. Its such a short story and seems to restore my faith in the world again once read! Wuthering Heights is another (sorry hopeless romantic at heart). Don't think I'd be able to re read all of We need to talk about Kevin again as its so detailed but what a book....up there in my top listings and as for the ending ... well...Never have I read a book that has made me have so many changeable emotions throughout reading, start off hating one character and end up completely understanding and sympathising. Agree with Bridges of Madison County Eileen, beutiful book but was so disapointed when they cast the movie characters as the image of Clint Eastwood now has ruined it for me. C'est la vie I suppose.
Yes I re-read., mostly Stephen King especially Misery!Love the movie Kathy Bates.Brill. Then Timeline by Michael Crichton. I love the Star Trek books aslo. Easy to read when you don't want to concentrate. I agree with KarenP you need a good week to read Lord of the Rings!
When I run out of new things to read! Anything I've read more than 5 years ago and remember enjoying is usually pretty good value second time round. I can re-read all of Kate O'Brien's book and my mission is to spread the word that everyone should read her! "The Land of Spices" or "Without my Cloak" are good ones to start with. Her books were originally published between teh 30s and the 50s.
I do re-read but not that often anymore. I've probably read all of Hardy's novels 2-3 times (when in my early 20s).
Most re-reads nowadays are of technical books :(
At least once a year, for the past twenty years, I've re-read my old childhood favourite 'Little Women' by Louisa May Alcott. I loved the book then, and I still do. I've revisited 'What Katy did' by Susan Coolidge numerous times too. I suppose it is not just the story that is being revisited, but also another time and place.
I always reread the good books and somtimes understood them more after I have reread them.
I also find it boring without a book to read,so I pick out my favorite one and read.
