Apparently they're making a movie based on The Time-traveller's Wife by Audrey Niffenegger. Also The Road by Cormac McCarthy. Obviously Slumdog was a very succesful adaptation of a good book. I reckon Pixar should have a go at Life of Pi by Yann Martel. The Blind Assassin by Margaret Atwood could be a great movie, if done well.

Shadow of the Wind would make a great movie as well. Mind you, I hate when a movie comes out and then the book cover changes to a photo from the movie. Maybe it's just me - but I'm so glad for example that I read Q&A before the movie came out - the book has been renamed Slumdog Millionaire!

God I so agree about the book cover thing, you want to have some kind of explanation stuck on the cover that you didn't just buy it cause of the film.

I recently finished The Time-traveller's Wife by Audrey Niffenegger , it was excellentand I'd love to see what would be done with that on the big screen! I definately prefer to have read the book before I see the screen adaptation. I really enjoyed reading Divine Secrets of the Yaya Sisterhood by Rebecca Wells but found the film version very disappointing

Time Travellers Wife is one of my favourite books and I was thrilled to hear it was bought for movie rights few years back by the fated Brad Pitt and Jennifer Aniston partnership to be made into a movie. Obviously nothing has happened further on that. However, after recently going to see The Curious Case of Benjamin Button on big screen (also based on book by F Scott Fitzgerald) and as much as I enjoyed the movie in it's own right, I was gutted to think "well they've kinda done that one now". As the movie relates to a love story where the man travels backwards through time, it seems pointless now that they could bring out a movie for Time Traveller so similar to this story. Gutted...

I generally find that the movie disapoints with the exception of the Harry Potter books! The most recent movie disaster was The Other Bolyn Girl by Phillipa Gregory. The book was such a page turner but the movie was dreadful... The Duchess is next on my list to read. I nearly rented the movie lasdt night but want to read it first! It would be interesting to see the Time Travellers Wife on screen, but it couldn't possibly match up to the fantastic book!

The End of Mr. Y and the Raw Shark Texts would both be a challenge to any movie maker but I'd like to see someone take them on; I enjoyed both books immensely, but I wouldn't be too upset if a bad film were made of them - its awful when you've had a great read of something & then have to sit through a particularly disappointing film version.
