I was bit surprised to see Meabh Binchy's 'Circle of Friends' up there. No disrespect to the author, but I was wondering what books could inspire young adults to keep reading, or what type of read would evoke good class discussions, thus making the reading more enjoyable?

Hi Claire - forgot I had read that book until you posted about it. That's a great read! Reckon that it would really grasp the attention of readers of Leaving Cert age. Took me a while to fully comprehend what was happening in that book - but I guess that would only lead to great class discussions as they tease it out.

I teach LC Eng & from what I remember of the 2011 reading List "Never let me go" is on it as is "Wuthering Heights". I loved NLME, not sure how a class of 17 year olds would cope with it, esp with mixed abilities!
